Re: Update 10.13 to 10.13.3 on virtualbox
I wasn't able to update from 10.13.1 to 10.13.3 but what I was able to do was I installed on a new vm using the latest disk image from the app store. That should contain 10.13.3 update builtin. However the new problem I have is that the supplemental update does not work.

Most probably a misstep in the instructions? You're not exactly going in depth with details here...leogdion wrote:I wasn't able to update from 10.13.1 to 10.13.3
There's an "About this Mac", right below the Apple-logo...leogdion wrote:I was able to do was I installed on a new vm using the latest disk image from the app store. That should contain 10.13.3 update builtin.
Does not work? What does that mean? Can you elaborate? Apple has not been too revealing about the fixes, but the supplemental update is about a Telugu character. It's a 40 MB update that most probably touches in areas of the fonts management. How do you know it's not working? I tried it and it works just fine over here...leogdion wrote:the new problem I have is that the supplemental update does not work.
Edit: OSX version 10.3.3: 17D47 10.3.3 with the update: 17D102 |

Re: Update 10.13 to 10.13.3 on virtualbox
I had a similar problem like the OP.
No chance to update 10.13.x to 10.13.3. Tried all suggestions from socratis.
So I decided to install a fresh 10.13.3 VM.
After the release of the supplemental update for 10.13.3, i tried to install it,
but my system was still at OSX version 10.3.3: 17D47. After a reboot,
the update still was visible in the app store, ready for download.
So I repeated the installation 3 times, but always the same.
I could solve the problem by downloading the supplemental package directly from apple
(not via App Store).
1) Install the package
2) create a snapshot (if you are too slow with pressing F12 - so you can revert to the snapshot)
3) on reboot press F12 to go to EFI
4) Find and start the correct boot.efi as described in socrates thread
-> after the installation you should have a 10.3.3 - 17D102
