cannot boot Win7 VM anymore FATAL: Could not read from the boot medium! System halted.

Post by Krischu »

I'm running 5.1.22 r115126 (Qt5.6.2) presently.

Fired up a Win7 VM just a couple of minutes ago and ran some Windows Updates (since I hadn't it been using for a while). Then I decided to make a snapshot. (the first Snapshot I did ever on this VM).

Got an error message that some device was busy. So I decided to shut down the machine first. Used ACPI shutdown for this.

Then ran the Snapshot. Don't know whether the Snapshot had terminated at the point I tried to start the machine next time. I didn't see any signs that the snapshot was still running, don't know anyway, whether the snapshot prompts back.

Anyway after I tried to start the machine again, I got the error message as shown in the subject:

FATAL: Could not read from the boot medium! System halted.

What can I do now?

Log excerpts are not useful to us. Please zip the entire log and attach (not paste) it.

Hopefully you already searched the forum for that error message, as it has been discussed very many times before.
