Screen Resolution only goes to 1024x768

Guest:
Centos 7
VRAM: 128MB
Monitors: 1
RAM: 8GB

Guest additions and extensions are installed.

How do I get better than 1024x768 on my extension screen? I've tried pushing my VRAM to the max of 128MB.
Turning on 3d acceleration makes my guest freeze on boot. My external screen is a 27" connected by HDMI.

Will going to the latest Vbox help? I'm currently stuck with the corporate default.

• Start the VM from cold-boot (not from a paused or saved state) / Observe error / Shutdown the VM.
• With the VM completely shut down (not paused or saved), right-click on the VM in the VirtualBox Manager and select "Show Log".

You seem to be running a quite old VirtualBox version, which might not be suitable for the latest CentOS 7. Please upgrade to either the latest 5.1.x series, or even better to the latest 5.2.x development builds.

You should eject the Guest Additions CD after you're done installing them, otherwise you're going to run into trouble when you upgrade. Especially when you use snapshots.

You have assigned all your CPUs to the VM. The host is going to run low on resources, since VirtualBox cares about physical processors, not logical ones. See: "CPU Cores versus threads" and "Why is it a bad idea to allocate as many VCPUs as there are physical CPUs?". And here are the specs for your i7-6820HQ CPU. I'm not quite sure I understand the term "extension screen"? Did you try to change the resolution from within CentOS? Are you trying to make it go Full-Screen in your external monitor, is that what you're saying? Did you try to use the HostKey+F combination or from the menu "View" » "Full-Screen Mode"?
