Hi I am getting installation failures on 10.13. Can anyone else confirm or provide a solution?

With that information? No, no-one can help you. Describe the problem adequately and then perhaps help is possible.

I'm asking if anyone else has experienced the same.
What do you need to know? I can't read your mind.
All I get is "the installer encountered an error that caused it to fail please contact the software vendor for support."

Apple has strengthened its security systems once again; and by default it is probably preventing the installation because it needs to make system changes.
Seek out "Technical Note TN2459" - "User-Approved Kernel Extension Loading" on Apple's Support Site

I'm not getting any errors with that (or I'm not getting to that point). No complaints from the OS, just the installer saying it failed.
Re: 5.1.12 installer fails in OS X 10.13 High Sierra
Have you tried to download a more up-to-date release of VirtualBox? 5.1.2 is 'relatively old' and a more recent release is likely to have improved compatibility with 'High Sierra'.

Whoops, it was 5.1.28 and the past 3 versions. None of them installed for me.

After you get the failed installation message, open System Preferences > Security & Privacy, click the Allow Oracle button. You should be good to go.nonprofitSA wrote:Hi I am getting installation failures on 10.13. Can anyone else confirm or provide a solution?
OSX, Linux and Windows Hosts & Guests
There are three groups of people. Those that can count and those that can't.

Thank you so much. This worked, I've been searching for about an hour now. Hate when dumb little things like this take forever to solve... Thanks for the helpful error message Apple!

Re: 5.1.12 installer fails in OS X 10.13 High Sierra
The installation is failing because the Mac OS kernel extension has not been approved. This is a new security policy change by Apple in High Sierra.
I'm thinking the VirtualBox installer scripts will need to be updated. Today's my first day here so tomorrow I can post the links where this is referenced but you can search GitHub for "Unable to load kext on High Sierra (10.13)" and developer apple for "User-Approved Kernel Extension Loading" Technical Note TN2459.

Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.

I know. I simply don't understand the meaning of your words: "read the thread completely". It's all ... Greek to me .
