Toolbar visibility issue with guests in seamless mode

Post by bqbauer »

I just discovered that when running Windows 7 or Ubuntu 17 Mate (an official Ubuntu distribution), the toolbar is hiding behind the seamless guest's own toolbar. If I set the guest's toolbar to autohide, then I can see the VB toolbar hiding, but still can't get it to pop up. If I configure the VB toolbar to be at the top of the screen, but the guest's menu bar is at the bottom, then I can access the VB bar.

And I don't know if it's somehow related, but I found the Host+S key combination doesn't work on any of my guests, but all other key combinations I've tested do work.

Is this a 5.2.0 beta regression? Did it work fine with the 5.1.26 or the 5.1.27 test builds?
Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.

What's the host OS and (if that is Linux) what's the Desktop Environment (DE)?

You mean the standard shortcut for VM settings invocation? Have you checked the Global Preferences / Input page? Is the shortcut still assigned?

Curious as well, since mini-toolbar functionality should be similar for latest 5.1.x and 5.2.beta.

This is still broken with RC1. My host is Solaris 11.3. It always worked with 5.1 builds and earlier, but with 5.2.x the toolbar is always hidden in seamless mode. If you have autohide on the guest's menu bar, you can see the mini toolbar just barely hiding behind it, but it won't come forward. With 5.1, it always comes to the front and works without fail.

Sorry I didn't reply earlier. I wasn't able to return to this until recently.
