Hi,
I have a quad-core processor host, with Ubuntu 8.0.4 64 bit installed. I installed the same OS as guest, and the installation process did install the SMP kernel. However, the guest only shows 1 cpu.
Does the VM not virtualize SMP?
Thanks
Ricardo

smp not supported
My understanding is that guests will only see a single processor.
I don't see SMP mentioned anywhere in the user manual (except bug fixes in regards to race conditions) so I'd guess that is the case. Nor do I see SMP/core options as configurable items in the GUI when setting up a virtual machine.
VMWare, from what I remember, does support SMP in guests in case you absolutely need it for something.

No, as you say only a single CPU. If you search the forum you will see that the reasons for this have been discussed on a number of occasionsrkleemann wrote:Does the VM not virtualize SMP?
