I have no idea what you've already looked at - you said you couldn't see the host log, only the guest log. I pointed out that the host log was in the zipped attachment.

Then where do I find the host log? The site admin in one of the posts, told me to save and send that log. Where in the VirtualBox app is the host log accessed?

I see what the problem is. mpack asked you to post the VM log which you did. The problem was socratis, being sarcastic, was asking how he was supposed to know any issue you may have on the host by looking at the guest log.

OK, at this point, I'll just assume the Win 10 install is pooched and get a new install going. I do have a full backup of the VM, so I'll try that first.

Thanks for the help and insight.

If you have a full backup that would be best.

Geez, I take a siesta and this is what happens... ;)

@Lou: no, I wasn't been sarcastic, I was straight quoting DevFingers (well, maybe I was a little bit with the psychic, but it was just a tad  )

@DevFingers: I would spend an hour or two trying to troubleshoot the Win installation rather than taking the nuclear option of re-installing everything from scratch. Just my .02 drachma...
Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.

Site admins and moderators are quite different beasts. I asked for the log because one should be provided as a matter of course, but when it comes to OS X host issues I must defer to people who use OS X.

I was experiencing problems installing the guest additions on my WIndows 10 guest machine.
The guest machine was upgraded from windows 7. Guest additions didn't seem to be working after the upgrade to windows 10, so I tried installing it again ... but the installation kept failing.

Resolved the problem by uninstalling the previous installation of guest additions. After that the installation of guest additions succeeded.
Note: Used safe mode when installing guest additions.

I too solved my problem by running the install exe, passing /uninstall as a parameter in a command prompt, because the program was not visible in the 'Apps & Features' Control panel tool. It looked like it wasn't installed, but there was 'junk' remaining. Using the command prompt and extra parameter forces all to go away.

After that it installed fine.
