VirtualBox crash with rPath Linux

Post by phasemaster »

VirtualBox hangs early on the out-of-box installation of AsteriskNOW, a software based on rPath Linux.

I am a newbie to VirtualBox and not very familiar with Linux installation but I will provide my log files and hope these contain sufficient information and that this is generally a problem of interest.

I have been using the CD image AsteriskNOW-1.0.2.1-x86-disc1.iso available from http://www.asterisknow.org/downloads to boot (upon the bootloader screen, press Enter for install in graphical mode).

My VirtualBox is v1.6.6 for Win/x86 and running under Vista.

My log files are available here: http://www.stayconnected.de/logs.zip

Ah, AsteriskNOW, I remember that one. About 3-4 months ago, a fellow student came to me for help with it. I tried to boot it in my VB machine but VB simply stopped, sometimes even crashed with a Guru Meditation error. As it is now, I don't think it's supported. I do know that it works on VMWare, but that isn't a real solution :P. Please file a bug report for this one, so it can be fixed for the next release. See the VirtualBox FAQ for how to do that.

Thank you for your help. The good part of it not working on VB is that AsteriskNow also fails on MS Virtual PC (presumably on graphics card issues) :)
I will file a bug report as you proposed.

Have you tried 2.0 yet? It's released today. See if it crashes there too and update the bug report. Please report the ticket number here too, so others who find this topic can see the ticket and progress directly.

Have now tried with VB 2.0.0 and I still get a crash, though at a later point in the installation stage. Have added my report to Ticket #1240 "VM crash while installing AsteriskNOW".
