Windows 4.3.26 Specifically for errors due to Security
Re: Windows 4.3.26 Specifically for errors due to Security
Hello,
No go with the latest build.
OS - Win7 Professional 64bit - SP1
Trendmicro Office Scan - 11.0.1454
Virtualbox - 4.3.27-99378
Screen shot and startup log attached.
I am happy to assist with debugging. Are there any switches or process that would provide additional diagnostic information?
Thanks,
Richard

Re: Windows 4.3.26 Specifically for errors due to Security
Thank you for looking at it.
I have no idea if It's a security issue. How can I tell?
I did re-install ver.VirtualBox-4.3.12-93733-Win.exe and did not encounter this problem. Win7 started all the way to the normal screen with no errors.
It didn't produce a log. It sure would be great if the software produced errors that were a little more self explanatory.
If the software knows there is a problem it would be really nice if it not only shows the developer the technical wording but also shows the user what would probably fix the issue.
I fully realize the compilation of fixes for each issue would be impossible to show at the begging. But as the developers find new resolutions it would be nice to add them to the messages.
This would greatly cut down on tech support time to answer questions and frustration on the users part in trying to get things running.
Thank you for all you hard work.

Re: Windows 4.3.26 Specifically for errors due to Security
Just to offer a little bit of incidental info:
Virtual Box 4.3.27 build 99293, is working well on Windows 8.1 x64 host with XP, Linux Mint and Win 7 x64 guests....
I am running Comodo 8.1 Internet Security host PC and also Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1 RU5 on a different host PC.
Also, it's not DIRECTLY relevant here but may be of interest to developers and users, but the Virtual Box 5.0.0 beta 1 build also works well on both systems...

The newer version(s) worked until a few weeks ago. Then died.
I've attached a log of failure.
(Now I'm back to 4.3.12, which works)
Win 7, fully patched
Zonealarm Firewall, Avira AV.

Re: Windows 4.3.26 Specifically for errors due to Security
Hello,
I have an issue on a PC and a laptop with the recent versions.
Here's the data from the PC:
OS: Windows 8.1 Pro
Antivirus: BitDefender Free
Other info:
- TeamViewer typically running
- I have tried also after quitting (via Task Manager) both TeamViewer and Bitdefender). The log attached is with both running.
Any help of suggestion is welcome.
Thanks!

Re: Windows 4.3.26 Specifically for errors due to Security
This is on a Win7 Enterprise host.
About five seconds into the boot of a Linux guest - fatal error: "The instruction at 0xffffffff referenced memory at 0xffffffff. The memory could not be written." 0xffffffff is an arbitrary address and changes each time.
The error only occurs when the program "actual multiple monitors" is running. If it is terminated, the guest boots normally. The version of this software is 8.2.2. Unfortunately, I can't post a link but it comes up immediately in Google.
This occurs as of 4.3.27-99378 and I have confirmed that it does not occur in 4.3.12. In the attached zip, I've included both a successful trace and one where the error occurs.
This is not a major issue for me but hopefully this is diagnostically useful to you in some way.

Re: Windows 4.3.26 Specifically for errors due to Security
I too am getting the error " supR3HardenedWinReadErrorInfoDevice: 'ntdll.dll: 7981 differences between 0x300c and 0x4fff in #1 (.text), first: 4c != 1f'". I've been using this install of VBox for years (installing updates as they arrive), and after just installing Windows Updates (last updated in March 2015, these were April 2015 updates), none of my VM's (various flavors of Windows & Linux) will startup. I've tried uninstalling the lastest "stable" build, reboot, re-install with no luck (although it did reset my CMOS clock). I've also tried installing the lastest test build, with no luck.
1. Windows 8 Enterprise x64 (fully patched)
2. Log file attached (starting Windows 8.1 x64 guest)
3. Microsoft Security Essentials, standard Windows firewall, no other patches
Any suggested workarounds?
EDIT: I've been able to confirm that this was caused by update KB3045999 (sorry, not privileged enough to post the link). I was lead to this based on the fact this update touches ntdll.dll, and confirmed the resolution by uninstalling this Windows Update, reboot, and now everything works perfectly.

Re: Windows 4.3.26 Specifically for errors due to Security
I am another person being tangled in this problem.
Would be grateful if anyone could advice any work around for this.
1) Host OS: Windows 8 64 bits (All latest update installed as 14/04/2015)
2) Guest OS: Ubuntu 10.04 (32 bits)
3) VBoxStartup.log (attached in zipped)
4) Antivirus: None
5) Firewall: Comodo Firewall 8.1.0.4426
6) Virtual Box: 4.3.26 r98988
Steps to recreate:
1) Uninstalled the previous Virtual Box version 4.3.24 after the upgrade via link, given the same problem as reported here.
2) Restarted the computer.
3) Downloaded VirtualBox-4.3.26-98988-Win.exe from below
Refer: http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualb ... 88-Win.exe
4) Double clicked the VirtualBox-4.3.26-98988-Win.exe and followed through the installation with default configuration.
5) Added existing ".vdi" file.
6) Started the VDI.
7) "Error in supr3hardenedwinrespawn" pops up (Refer: Error in supr3hardenedwinrespawn.zip and VBoxStartup.zip)
Observation:
1. Upgrade from 4.3.24 to 4.3.26 does not help.
2. Reverting to 4.3.24 and 4.2.28 does not help.
3. Fresh install does not help.
Is there any work around for this?
Appreciate your guidance.

Re: Windows 4.3.26 Specifically for errors due to Security
Dear All,
I have an update:
1. Have uninstalled Update KB3045999 from Windows.
2. Restarted the computer.
3. Relaunched Virtualbox and the VDI. It worked like a charm.
Perhaps this is a temporary measure until a workable permanent solution found.
Thanks to Scootin159 for your advice.

Re: Windows 4.3.26 Specifically for errors due to Security
Hi
I did exactly the same thing as Saravanan Kandasamy writes to get VirtualBox to work. It is the Update KB3045999 from Windows that is the problem.
I hope there will be a solution here because Windows update tries to install it again after it is uninstalled.
I am using Windows 8 Enterprise.
Regards
Trond

Re: Windows 4.3.26 Specifically for errors due to Security
I also have a problem with Microsoft Security Update KB3045999 (Host Win 8 Pro x64, VirtualBox 4.3.16), VMs do not start.
Uninstalling KB3045999 and rebooting resolved the issue.
