4.3.22 freezes when booting win 8.1

Hi,

I am running ubuntu 14.04 and virtualbox 4.3.22 after updating to kernel 3.19 I've recompiled the kernel modules, now when I try to run a windows 8.1 client the hole system freezes.

It worked fine with kernel 3.18.

Did you re-compile VirtualBox? /etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup

Is there a log I can post to help debug this issue?

PS: the save button on the virtual box UI simply saves a empty log file I had to manually copy&paste the file

This should say Windows81_64 since the guest is 64-bit. Make sure you select the proper guest type in the settings.

I've switched the host and no luck, this are virtual machines downloaded from modern.ie

I've managed to boot the windows 7 machine but the system freezed again after 1 minute of usage (it was just displaying the update for virtualbox additions)

I will delete all images and reinstall, will update this threat if this fixes the issue.

Switched the host? That isn't what Perry said. He said to change the OS Version field in the VM settings to accurately identify the guest OS you're trying to install.

I did that, my english is not very good, updated the virtual machine's settings to use x64, same result when I start it it will freez the entire system.

Same thing with a fresh reinstall of virtualbox and fresh machine image download.

Will try next one vagrant machine.

I can confirm this works with kernel 3.18.8-vivid, I guess I will stick with the older version of the kernel for now
