[Solved] No 64-bit environment offered

Post by eikelein »

Hi;
I'm trying to create a 64-bit VM on a Win7 64-bit host system.
In Create Virtual machine I've named it, selected type MS Windows.
Under Version it offers 32-bit systems only.
What am I missing?
TIA

You need to enable VT-X in your BIOS.

Thank you Lou;

I am sorry but I have to report that there is absolutely no setting even vaguely like this in this notebook's BIOS.

The machine has an AMD Phenom II N850 Triple-Core processor and Win7 64-bit runs happily.

I am stumped but if necessary will download the Windows 10 build 9879 32-bit technical preview.

You're welcome. Your CPU supports AMD-V which basically is the same thing as VT-X, i.e. hardware virtualization. If you read the thread I posted I'm not sure what else may help. Perhaps someone else does.

Make sure Hyper-V is disabled.

Thank you Lou;

I found it!
HP in their eternal wisdom have on this computer in the BIOS hidden the virtualization feature as "SVM" .

I just tried to enable it because of the V and hoopla, that was it.

Question was asked after too little experimentation, I apologize.
