Windows reported CPU clock speed

Post by cwcheung »

Hi,

I installed VirtualBox on my MacBook. Successfully created a VM with Windows XP. However, when I boot Windows on my 2.4 GHz Core2Duo, the computer properties show the correct processor but running on 1.95 GHz (wired) and 850 Mhz sometimes 650 Mhz (battery). Does it have something to do with Intel SpeedStep? Can I disable it?

Regards,
Che

Don't give too much attention to that. I have a 1,66 GHz core duo processor in my laptop and I've even seen a speed 85 MHz, but it was a lot faster than that. I'm sure it has something to do with the speedstep options of your processor as you suggested. Disabling it is something that I do not know, except put the processor on a single speed on the Host. See your Host help files for how to do that, but it's not guaranteed that it will work.
