difference between machine folders and transient folders

Post by biophysics »

Can anyone tell me what is the difference between machine folders and transient ones.

It seems extremely dangerous to share / - is there any ways one could regulate -rwx- permissions just like owner-group-others model when accessing files from XP ?

Many thanks

Transient folders only persist in this VM session. Your Vbox VMM session runs under your credentials so it is your credentials that are used for access control from the guest VM to the shared folders. If you are running guest applications that you don't trust then don't use shared folders
