4.3 still breaks ALL USB windows host again
Can you please fix USB. You guys broke it in 4.2.18 and it's still broke in 4.3, yet all the bug reports have been closed as fixed.
The only difference now is instead of BSOD the host, you freeze the Guest OS container, not the guest os itself the container ie the VM container.

If you have a reproducible scenario with a VM log to back up your claims, you can still post on the tickets you mention to provide further evidence that this is not yet fixed.

Re: 4.3 still breaks ALL USB windows host again
I have exactly the same problem. Since 4.2.18 version, I cannot attach any USB device to my guest. I am using Windows7 Enterpise 32 bit as host and guest OS. The USB ports of the host are USB2. When 4.2.18 was installed, the host was crashing with IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL blue screen error when I try to attach my Omnikey 3121 USB smart card reader to guest OS. Now 4.3 is installed on my host and when I try to attach the smart card reader to guest OS, the host is unmounting the USB device, but the guest is not mounting it. When I try to attach the same device again, the guest OS container is freezing. This occurs for all USB devices. I checked the same problem with smart card readers, mouse and keyboard and every time I get the same error. The problem doesn't exist for 4.2.16 version, therefore I uninstalled newer versions and installed 4.2.16 again. While upgrading from 4.2.16 to 4.2.18, you somehow made a mistake and now newer versions are not attaching the USB devices, but crashing instead.

Re: 4.3 still breaks ALL USB windows host again
same problem! when choose a usb device to be attached to the guest with VBox menu, the device was ejected from the host but not work correctly(not recognized by the guest). I just right click at the bottom of the guest window where devices status are shown, to check the status of the very usb device and it shows "captured" but was not checked(that strange ).
my host: Windows 8 Enterprise x64
guests checked: Windows XP SP3 AND Fedora 19 x86_64(both exist problem)

Re: 4.3 still breaks ALL USB windows host again
I have windows 8.1 host, VB 4.3.2 running Fedora 20 beta in VM -- I have no problem adding usb filters however they are unavailable to the the guest.
This is the error:

This seems to happen with all usb hard disks.

Re: 4.3 still breaks ALL USB windows host again
The problem still continues in 4.3.4 version and therefore I cannot use the new version of VirtualBox efficiently. I'd be glad if anyone can solve the USB connecting problem that exist since 4.2.18 version!!!
Re: 4.3 still breaks ALL USB windows host again
Right!
I have the same problem since 4.2.18 (4.3.4 running now).
Of course: I have extensions and additions installed, users in the necessary groups, usb options and filters all tested on/off .. (any more?). And it worked before! The sole change was the new VB-version.
Description:
Host system Solaris 11.1
USB device is captured, but not recognized by guests (ubuntu, Windows 7, Linux Mint, FreeBSD).
Thoughts:
My Motherboard does not support usb 3.0, but only up to 2.0. May that newly be a problem (though 3.0 is anyway not supported by VB)?
While with first 3 OSs mentioned, graphical desktops hide spontaneous response, but on FreeBSD I can see s.th., and perhaps it is of some interest. FreeBSD says:
umass0: [device description]
umass0: SCSI over Bulk-Only; quirks = 0x100
umass0:3:0 Attached to scbus3
(probe0:umass-sim0:0:0:0): INQUIRY. CDB: 12 0 0 0 24 0
(probe0:umass-sim0:0:0:0): CAM status: CCB request completed with an error
It finally gives up after 5 retries.
When I un-capture the device, it recognizes correctly:
ugen0.2: [device description] at usbus0 (disconnected)
usmass0: at uhub0, port 1, addr 2 (disconnected)
If there isn't a completely new extra administration necessary for usb support since 4.2.18 (please give me an advice) it must be an issue with VirtualBox. Users have already reported similar problems with VB on other host systems.

Re: 4.3 still breaks ALL USB windows host again
I can confirm the exact same issue.
I am running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit as Host (and running Ubuntu 12.04 LTS as Guest).
As mentioned by others I have also upgraded to the latest version 4.3.4 and upgraded Guest Additions as well.
(I have tested with different USBs and devices all with the same issue, I can also mention that I tested the USBs on a colleagues older Virtual Box and it worked well on first try, he just went home so I can not check his version of VirtualBox but I will do so tomorrow!)
Devices > USB Devices > and then hovering over the UDB device shows that "state: captured" (by the filter which I have) but in Ubuntu writing dmesg shows nothing has happened!
What kind of log file do you need to be able to reproduce this issue?

Re: 4.3 still breaks ALL USB windows host again
Confirm same/similar issue on my system:
Host: Windows 8.1 Pro 64
Guest: e. g. Windows XP SP3
USB device: old Canon-Scanner CanoScan 5000F without driver for host system
Up to VirtualBox 4.2.16 the Guest VM Windows XP picked up the USB scanner as per filter settings at start up of the VM (new start or restore). Since using VirtualBox 4.3.x it does not. Originally, I thought the problem is caused by Windows 8.1, because around the same time I migrated from Windows 8 to 8.1.
My workaround:
1. Start/restore VM
2. Deactivate USB device (scanner) in device manager on host
3. Activate USB device again and the (running) VM will pick it up immediately.
