VBox 4.2.12 cuts bottom edge in integration mode

Post by hopungo »

After I updated my Ubuntu to 13.04 I noticed that VirtualBox looks strange when I try to integrate it with desktop. As well as the VB menu doesn't work. I had no such problem before. Does anyone know how to fix it? Notice that guest additions are installed.

You don't have enough available memory on your host to give that allocation to the VM.

I'm also not convinced that you've installed the latest Guest Additions. You do have the GAs ISO mounted in the VM, but I don't think the installer has actually been run. And why so much VRAM? Most of that is probably just being wasted.

Thanks for your reply. I will set my RAM and VRAM settings to less values tomorrow, though I doubt it will help, because these settings were not changed since last two updates. Nevertheless, attempt is not torture, as we say in Russia :) . Oh, and I'm pretty sure that additions are the last. I specially updated them and I'll post screenshot when I get access to my workstation.

There should be a little icon on the task/status bar of the guest OS, hovering over it should report the GAs version.

Set RAM to 768 MB
VRAM to 64 MB
Problem still exists.

Updated VB to version 4.2.14 r86644. Installed corresponding Guest Additions. Now Integration mode does not work at all. Virtual machine simply crashes when I turn it on. Had problems with installing Extension Pack, but solved them.

Updated everything to 4.2.16 r86992. Situation became more absurd: the only mode which works fine is fullscreen mode. When I try to switch from it, machine crashes. And another VM with Windows XP onboard does not start at all showing message "Failed to attach the network LUN (VERR_PDM_DRIVER_NOT_FOUND)".

UPD: I tried to switch to my distribution-provided version of VB (4.2.10), but it has the same problem.

UPD2: Switching TestBox Network to NAT mode solves problem with starting, but when I try to turn on fullscreen mode, it crashes.

UPD3: Found that disabling 3D solves problem.

UPD4: Tried to switch Desktop Environment (to LXDE) and discovered that this solves the problem. So apparently it's a Unity bug. Thanks everybody. Topic now can be closed.
