Hi,

I'm testing Windows 2012 (Build 9200) on vbox 4.2.10 (On AMD and Ubuntu host).

As you say, windows stops on logo screen, but if you wait for 5 or 10 minutes it goes on, and the instalation finish ok. And then windows 2012 runs fine.

It's true that in each reboot windows stops for 5 minutes in logo screen and then it works fine.

I'm looking for this behavior in Inet but there is nothing about.

Hi again,

Far as I know windows 2012 do not need efi boot.
Far as I know virtualbox efi boot is not supported for windows OS.

I thought i met the the minimum requirementin my original post but i didn't know about the log file so here it is.
Vbox.log
my log file

The host is is 64bit(linux mint if that matters) virtualization is on in bios. Server 2012 only comes in 64 bit and the fact the install of it is not done should tell you guest additions is not installedif you need other info then could you specify what you need. I just get the logo after windows is loading files it never goes to the language screen. I tested the iso from my physical box and it progresses fine but in vbox it freezes on the logo. It doesn't even show the spinning wheel icon like on a physical install. Before you ask yes I selected server 2012 as the OS type when creating the HD. I assigned the guest 4gig of ram and 50gig for storage and 2 CPU's(tried one also). This meets server 2012's criteria. So I don't know where to go from here.
If it matters I notice it goes through the windows loading files screen a little fast. It takes a lot longer on a physical install so that may tell you something idk.
Also I tried the install from iso and also burned it to disk and tried that way although that shouldn't matter.

You're going to update to a newer version of VirtualBox that supports Window 8 .

The version I have is only one update behind and has server 2012 and win8 options when creating the HD. Plus I know older versions that run it.
Actually I have it installed now any way I'm going to mark this solved.
The other poster was right if you wait long enough it does eventually continue but in my case it was allot longer than 5-10 minutes. I was thrown off because usually it will show a spinning wheel graphic while it's on the logo screen but it doesn't in vbox but all's good now

I have the same issue;
- Ubuntu 13.04 (64bit) Host OS w/ 16Gb RAM
- Windows Server 2012 Standard Guest OS w/ 4Gb RAM
- VirtualBox Version 4.2.12 r84980

Any reboot of guest OS hangs at Windows logo for at least 5-10 minutes before finally continuing. This happens before and after guest additions are installed.

Log file is attached.

Thanks.

Correct. Server 2012 just sits there. This is not restricted to virtual machines. The first time I intalled 2012 on an old physical box I assumed that it was not working, but it just needed more time.
