ALL VM's stopped working yesterday

Post by zevious »

I have vbox 4.1.18 running on my Windows 7 machine with several VM's (XP, Vista, Win7, Win8) and all has been well. The other night, my computer rebooted after Windows updated. When I tried to use any of the VM's yesterday, they won't load. They fail with a critical error.

I have tried repairing the installation but I am not sure what happened or how to fix it.

Any ideas?

Seams you have the known problem "HostMemoryLow".

Please use search funtion, this was discussed several times in the last time. If i remember exact, its a google chrome problem.

Hi
Having similar issue - I do not have Google Chrome installed, I do have Google toolbar so changed it's options not to send any information to Google but I still can not run a VM over 1GB of RAM even though I have 6GB on my Host.

Host machine Windows 7 64 bit Pro, 6GB RAM, optimised for program performance (using control panel> Performance Information and Tools)
I'm up loading my log files and the image file (as suggested by the error screen)

@gwaddell-ADPBusiness,

Code: Select all

00:00:26.420 Console: VM runtime error: fatal=false, errorID=HostMemoryLow message="Unable to allocate and lock memory. The virtual machine will be paused. Please close applications to free up memory or close the VM"
The error says it all. Something on the host is preventing VirtualBox from being able to allocate and lock the amount of memory you are requesting. You need to turn off services on the host one at a time to see what is causing this error. Also try turning off Nested Paging (in the guests settings) to make sure that is not an issue.
