There is an interesting issue described in ticket #8629. http://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/8629
(In nutshell: If you use ICH9 chipset with Win7 guest then you'll experience some strange things)
I checked 4.1b3 and I found, that something is much worse than before.
See CPUHISTORY.jpg (I has just browsed the Internet, nothing heavy thing.)

What is the application you are using to do your monitoring with. It looks very interesting.

It's called Process Explorer and can be found on the MS download center. If you Google for Sysinternal process monitor, you will get a more direct page.

Please try the final 4.1 release. We fixed a bug which could be related to your problem.

Re: Win7 x86 guest stalls, pauses 4.1 B3
It will take longer time as usual, because I have lost my guest system.
I upgraded to VirtualBox 4.1 and I tried to upgrade the VBA too, but the installer (and the whole guest) freezed. After a reset I tried again, but the installer (and the the guest) freezed again.
After that my guest don't boot anymore.
(I use TrueCrypt, maybe lot of unexpected boot is not too healthy. I didn't have any problem with truecrypt until now)

I checked the symptom with 4.1 final, the issue is still exists. I attached some cpu history and vbox log to #8629.Frank Mehnert wrote:Please try the final 4.1 release. We fixed a bug which could be related to your problem.

Op, this is caused by the Matrox Storage Manager 8 drivers
