Re: Where 2 download the Guest additions?
You don't need to download them. They come with your VirtualBox program.
See chapter 4.2 Installing and Maintaining Guest Additions in your VirtualBox users manual.

This TS is missing all the information we ask for in the Forum Posting Guide. Surely someone with 88 posts should know better than to ask a question with only one word.

Re: Where 2 download the Guest additions?
No, the topic is 6 words, the TS itself only 1. It's also lacking all the vital information one would need to solve the problem. A car doesn't start. Do you know why? No, you're going to ask several questions and try to eliminate faulty conclusions. But that takes time. If you're given more information, you can skip questions and get to the solution a lot faster. E.g., if your car won't start, while you just filled the tank, you know it won't out of fuel. That's one question less.

Re: Where 2 download the Guest additions?
I dunno. I came here to find an answer to the same question, and I understood his entire meaning in one word. Wasn't that hard, really.
Re: Where 2 download the Guest additions?
I too came here looking for the download. I think this page gets a lot of people as it turns up in the search engine results.
But NO ANSWER HERE!
I did find this elsewhere though.
downloadPERIODvirtualboxPERIODorg/virtualbox/4.1.8/
I found the above link here:
blogsPERIODoraclePERIODcom/joshis/entry/virtualbox_guest_additions_iso_download
Since this seems to be the de-facto landing page for the very common question the OP asked.
WHERE !?!

Re: Where 2 download the Guest additions?
@TRAN,
If you have installed VirtualBox from VirtualBox.org you already have the guest additions that match your version.
Since this seems to be an issue for some you can always find any and all things downloadable from VirtualBox HERE

You're assuming that people take the time to read the answers, and then go through the intense mental effort to understand what the answers mean. That assumption is clearly falsempack wrote:On the contrary, the question was answered in the first sentence of the first reply.

Guestadditions are not included when virtualbox is downloaded from ubuntu software center.

Re: Where 2 download the Guest additions?
Ubuntu uses the source code provided by VirtualBox.org and creates their own version and I guess you need to ask them why they don't provide the Guest additions or at the very least a link to get them.FinallyALogin wrote:Guestadditions are not included when virtualbox is downloaded from ubuntu software center.
You can always find the guest additions for the official release here
Match them with your version and they *should* work.

Re: Where 2 download the Guest additions?
4 full months to get an answer to a simple question (first time the secret was disclosed on February 28). Why are that many people out there who answer to a question like "where can I download..." with "you don't have to download...". Don't they think that the one who asks is clever enough to know what he or she is doing?? Ok, I know, completely off topic. So now I will stick to the topic:
I am here for the same reason, I want/need to download guest additions iso-file for my vbox-guest (and I KNOW about the vbox-menu to install it, it was the first I found...).
So thank you, Perryg, for sharing your knowledge with us. ;)
Chris
EDIT: remove typo

Re: Where 2 download the Guest additions?
This question has already been answered above, but I'll reiterate.
1. If you downloaded the Oracle VirtualBox distribution then the guest additions ISO is part of the bundle you downloaded. It's accessible from the VM "Devices" menu, and the ISO can be found in the program folder.
2. If you downloaded someone else's fork of VirtualBox then we don't support you. Go get your guest additions ISO from them.
Since the question has now been asked and answered multiple times I will now lock this topic to prevent further trolling.
