I recently upgraded to OSX 10.7.2 . I run a windows xp client. Previously I could happily connect my iLok dongle via virtualbox's usb... now when I connect it it doesn't connect (doesn't show up in XP and remains available in the menu)
when i try and save the virtual machine's state i get the error NS_ERROR_CALL_FAILED (0x800706BE). Likewise can't stop... all communication is lost.
either this is 10.7.2 or a recent virtualbox's fault. i think the former

Re: Virtualbox 4.1.4 / Lion & USB not working
Similar problems with VBox and USB after 10.7.2
#1. Safe Mode Boot of OSX
#2. Single User Mode Boot of OSX
#3. Normal Boot of OSX
No more grief (overkill probably)
Best!

Re: Virtualbox 4.1.4 / Lion & USB not working
Hello All ,
I managed to get this running on my machine its a work around. Its a little procedural but it works (at least for me ).
Some example where you want the USB mounted instead of being accessed as a share
1) NFTS needs chkdsk either you mount it or take it to a windows machine.
2) Format it custom as per software on windows
3 ) Others where direct disk access is adviced.
The instructions are here : http://lifemesh.blogspot.com/2011/10/so ... nting.html
Let me know if this works for you.
Note : Remember to un-mount first
start VB via the script provided.
Then insert the disk and enure its listed on the device list on VB (ports > USB )

Re: Virtualbox 4.1.4 / Lion & USB not working
Hi all
I noticed this error after an unproper shutdown of an Centos Guest. After that I could repair it by reinstall the whole VirtualBox package (just over the existing one) and delete and reinstall of the VirtualBox_Extension_Pack.
Try if this help
Regards Xif54
