Cant Install .net framework

Some software I am trying to install requires .net framework.

I am running mac os virtual box and have windows xp installed on the vb.

I download the .net framework file and the set up starts. Then the setup try's connect to a download server but it cant and quits.

Any ideas why this happens?

Internet works fine so the network connections are fine.

Can you download for any other site?
If so then it must be an issue with the guest OS or Microsoft. I noticed yesterday that the download from them was flaky. Had to actually get a package from connect because the download section would not work.
