Windows/SUPER-key is not grabbed for Ubuntu guest

Post by takkat »

We are running Ubuntu Natty 11.04 am64 and Oneiric 11.10 am64 alpha3 as guests in VBox 4.1.2. PUEL (GA installed). Host OS is Ubuntu Natty 11.04 am64.

Unfortunately the Windows/SUPER-key needed for opening the Dash in the guest Unity is not grabbed by Virtual Box and thus always openes the Dash in the host. Are there any settings we have to make?

If the Guest has the keyboard focussed, then there should be nothing to be done. Only thing I can think of, is that because it's mapped on the Host too, it will be grabbed by the Host before the VB has any chance to capture it and send it to the Guest. I'm sure you can change the activation key to something else, then you should be able to open the dashboard on the Guest as well.

Thank you for this tip, it worked!

I opened ccsm to find the Key to show the launcher in the Unity plugin settings. There you may choose a combination that is not used otherwise. I chose SHIFT+SUPER: mind that this combination will open both the dash in the guest, and the host. If we chose another key combination this can be avoided.
