4.0.4 - WinXP guest network dies after host reboot

Post by plk »

Using bridged networking, it seems that after a reboot of the OpenIndiana oi_148 host, the network on the WinXP guest is no longer working - can't ping the gateway etc. If I reinstall the Guest additions, it starts working again. I do have a few other VMs also using bridged networking to the same interface but none of them are automatically running after a host reboot, just the problematic VM in question. No zones involved. This was fine with VB 3 ...

Sounds like your auto run guest is loading before the network service. Try putting a pause in the script. Keep in mind, since VirtualBox does not provide the mechanism to start a guest automatically it is not an issue of VirtualBox.

Hmm, you seem to be right. If I disable the service, reboot the host and then start the service, it seems to be ok.
