Hello all,
I am playing with WinPE 2.0 starting through PXE server. Therefor I have 2 VirtualBox instances. The first one is my DHCP/PXE/TFTP server running CentOS 5.4 (I will use 'server' for this machine).
The second VirtualBox is the machine that should be running WinPE 2.0 (I will use 'client' for this machine).
I am following this website: http://sysadminman.net/blog/2007/pxe-bo ... e-server-8
So the client machine is booted through LAN. It receives a DHCP address, and the linux pxe configuration is loaded. After that it is starting the windows bootmgr.
After some time it says:
Windows failed to start.
...
File: CLASSPNP.SYS
Statux: 0xc0000017
Info: Windows failed to load because a required file is missing, or corrupt.
When I do the exact same setup using VMWare Player, using the same WinPE.wim file, the WinPE 2.0 command line appears correctly.
Anybody an idea on how to find what seems to be the problem here?
Thanks!
Kind regards,
Yves
WinPE 2.0 startup failure.

Re: WinPE 2.0 startup failure.
Problem is solved WinPE 2.0 is starting up correctly now.
Solution was: make the memory of the client machine 512MB in stead of 256MB.
I guess the WinPE.wim was not completely loaded in the client machine's memory, without giving any error whatsoever.

I thought I would add I had the same problem. The only difference was I was crashing out at CI.dll and was using WinPE 2.1. I changed the memory to 512MB and everything booted up fine. Thanks for posting this tip; you saved me tons of time.

I had the same problem
The error was on a different file
BCRAID.SYS
And the stop error was on 0XC0000017
It was solved as well by increasing the amount of memory to 5112MB
