I'm using XP to do game development in visual studio 2005 using the SAGE academic game engine. The problem is, when running the sage demos, they all break during execution at this point:
FATAL ERROR: Can't set video mode to 1024x768x24bbp
Is this due to virtual box controlling the screen resolution? i noticed virtualbox changing the screen resolution when i full screen etc. so i wondered if its preventing the app from setting the video mode to 1024x768x24. Strange thing is, if i set the video mode to 1024X768 with 24bit colour, it still doesn't work?
The machine is a sony vaio laptop, widescreen 1200X800 screen, intel gm945 (i think) graphics, 1Gb ram, virtualbox has 515mb available, and 64mb graphics memory.
Any help greatly appreciated, i really need this working!
