Can't install 64 bit Ubuntu on 64 bit Windows

Post by foxmajik »

I have Virtualbox 3.2.12 on Windows 7 64 Bit.

When I attempt to boot the ubuntu-10.10-desktop-amd64 ISO I get an error:

"This kernel requires an x86-64 CPU, but only detected an i686 CPU.
Unable to boot - please use a kernel appropriate for your CPU."

The CPU is a NVidia Ion.

If it's a 64 bit operating system booting a 64 bit guest, I don't understand how I can make it any more 64 bit than it already is.

Your CPU and bios must support (and have enabled) hardware virtualization to be able to run 64-bit guests.

I doubt the CPU is nVidia Ion, as nVidia only makes GPUs.
