Re: Creating ISO from Windows XP Installation Disk
yeah i have a dvdrw
edit:
I have downloaded and installed virtual box & created a virtual machine, although when I start it i get the error: "FATAL: No bootable medium found! System halted.". I was under the impression (from what i'v read) that I had to mount an iso of the operating system (in thi case: XP).

Re: Creating ISO from Windows XP Installation Disk
Open the settings and attach the CD/DVD drive in the storage section. Same place you would attach an ISO. No need to create an ISO. If you still want to you will need to use a CD/DVD burner software to create this. Windows might even have it native, but it is not something that VirtualBox does for you.virtualboxvvvvv wrote:yeah i have a dvdrw

Re: Creating ISO from Windows XP Installation Disk
thansk for the reply..
Is there anyway I can use a local drive or partition? (instead of a CD?)
I copy+pasted all the contents from my windows xp setup dvd into D:\WinXPVB\
EDIT:
I think I understand.. Does the virtual machine install XP from the drive?

Re: Creating ISO from Windows XP Installation Disk
It is just like any other install. You only need it when asked after the install. Just mount it and start the guest. It should install from there.
