For me the universal driver from june 2010 works in a win98 guest.ripjacker wrote:It seems none of the video drivers now work.
We need a petition to get Win98 fully supported.
Am I right in thinking I'm not the only one who wants this?

Re: Discuss: Tutorial: Windows 95/98 guest OSes
I have the problem that I can get 16 colours at best with windows 98. I also do not really understand what all the previous talk about vga and what not is, despite seeming to be aabout the same problem. Can anyone explain to me in simple terms how to get up to at least 256 colours?

The above driver does not work on windows7 hosts trying to run win98 clients.
win98 requires full support.

Disable VT/Nested Pages and use only 8 MB Video RAM.

If you have problems open a new thread. This has nothing to do with windows 98.

Windows 98 SE still slow
Hi guys!
I followed Technologov's tutorial step by step and the installation worked perfectly (thanks a lot).
ACPI is, as far as I can say, supported (the registryentry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Detect\ACPIOption exists and has the value 01 00 00). I also tried both video-drivers (both worked) and use now the SciTech Display Doctor. I disabled VT-x like it is written in the VirtualBox wiki. Nevertheless the CPU-Usage is still around 30-40% when I do nothing and instantly goes up to 100% even when I only resize a window or open a folder (it drops back to 30-40% as soon as the folder is open).
Hostsystem: Windows XP
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo @ 2.53 GHz
Anyone has an idea?
Thanks

Sorry for the Delay!
I did that. I just didn't recognise any differance in the installing-process. That's why I wrote that as far as I can say it is installed.

Install rain or waterfall this will keep your CPU load down (this will avoid the idle loop causing the 100 % CPU load).
