Crashes and several problem with last Oracle builds

Post by ZeB »

Hey there,

So, since V3.2 i encounter several problems with my XP SP3 guest :
- Seamless mode displays the desktop (problem maybe related to experimental 3D support ?) (since 3.2)
- Sound is laggy (at least XP startup sound... ) (since 3.2)
- VB crashes after about 30sec, except on safe mode (since 3.2.2 -> 3.2.4)

I revert back to v3.1.8 and everything just runs smoothly...

My config :
MacPro Dual bi-processor 2.66Ghz (MacPro 2006)
5Go of RAM
Mac OS 10.5.8 (Leopard)

Here's an extract of crashlog (full crashlog and config log are attached to this message) :

Note : There are maybe some reminiscence in crashlog of a network drive that can't be mounted. While v3.1.8 doesn't hang on it, i don't think it can be associated with crash.

Hi ZeB,

The BugTracker has been pretty active with 3.2.x issues. You might want to add logs and info there as well to help developers with fixes. Search for the ones that fit your situation/experiences the best or start a new ticket. Some examples below to get you started.

+ For example, for the audio issue, check out BugTracker Ticket #6816 => http://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/6816

+ A recent bug report for VBox hangs -- Ticket #6943 => http://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/6943

Thx HipHoppity, i'll follow your advice ;)
Edit:  The seamless problem can be fix as this post says : http://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic. ... 38#p142210
I'll give it a try as soon as the crash problem will be resolved.

Some news, the crash was caused by 2D acceleration. After deactivating it, almost all problems went away (still have a problem with cmd-q, and audio is still a bit laggy).
Read the ticket here : http://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/6971

Even after I removed 2d and 3d acceleration it still does not work. I have reverted back to an older version until I see a proper fix. My iMac is only a year old so I don't see how hardware issues could be the problem. I am new to all of this but I hope Oracle provides a fix soon.

Thanks

Hi,

Does your problem is exactly similar to mine (crashes after 30sec of use) ? Try to check my vbox.log and compare with yours to see any configuration difference. Check too the link posted above by HipHopitty that describes a similar problem: http://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/6943
