Log attached, after i manually power off the machine, using the Virtual Box option to do so

Can you be more precise? Are you trying to shutdown the guest by choosing the guest action for shutting down in the GNOME GUI or are you trying to send the ACPI event to the VM? Oh, and after you shut down the VM with the VM menu action then the VBox.log file should contain more lines.

I hit the reset/shutdown menu option from within Guest OS.
I did also reboot as root from a console.
They all stack in there
Ok i will attach again the logs
The one at 14:58 after i instruct shut down
The second at 15:01 is after is power off the machine manually through virtual box option

yes, i too have this bug on virtualbox 3.2.2
on 3.2.0 version all work fine.
when i shutdown linux ubuntu 9.10, then i get virtual box crash.

I was planning to upgrade to 3.2.2 but due to this issue i'll wait until a new re-spun will be available.

Have upgrade to 4.1.8 and install also the Addons. Problem is still here.

This is the log from a session with starting up the machine and then request 'ACPI Shutdown' From menu 'Machine'
(not within Guest OS shutdown)
I guess the only thing that is logged after the shutdown action is:
