Hi
I am running an XP virtual machine within VBox on my Host Xp machine. If I close the machine by clicking "Save State" everything works fine. But if I click on "Shut Down machine" I can never get the machine to boot again. I get the Windows screen briefly but then it goes back to the Sun VBox screen and this continues over and over. The only thing I've been able to do is boot the Guest OS into Safe mode.
Anybody have any idea how I can diagnose whats wrong?
Mathew

The same thing happens if (from within my guest OS) I shutdown. Following this I go to Machines->Close->Shut down computer.

Re: windows xp machine goes into reboot loop
Is this a transplant? Did you install it on XP host or move it to the XP host from the Vista host?

Re: windows xp machine goes into reboot loop
One thing that would probably help your diagnosis would be disabling the auto-reboot on BSOD feature. Go into My Computer Properties | Advanced tab | Startup and Recovery Settings button, untick the "Automatically restart" option in the "System failure" panel.
If this was a change of hosts, and not just a change of host OS, then my guess is that it fails in intelppm.sys, and deleting that from the drivers folder will cure the problem (which is caused by a change in host CPU).

Re: windows xp machine goes into reboot loop
I have enabled CPU virtualization in my BIOS settings and that solved the issue

Re: windows xp machine goes into reboot loop
Enabling VT-x (which is what I assume you meant) would not solve the OPs issue.
