Problems with Virtalbox 1.5.4.

Post by MrT »

Hello

Since today i'm running VirtualBox 1.5.4 on Ubuntu 7.10. Before this update, i had Version 1.5.1. installed. Everything worked perfect. But since i've updated I have no internet connection and after one reboot of the VM i cannot start it again. There pops up a window: "Starting virtual machine" with a progress bar that still hangs on 0%.

What shall I do?

So, how I said: At the moment, I cannot start the VM. It's a Windows XP Home guest ond a Ubuntu 7.10 host.

If I start the VM, I only get this Dialog which doen't load:

These are the logs of the VM:
http://files.it-media.ch/d/VBox.log
http://files.it-media.ch/d/VBox.log.1
http://files.it-media.ch/d/VBox.log.2
http://files.it-media.ch/d/VBox.log.3

I tested nothig until yet, because I don't know what I could do...

Check if selecting the alsa audio backend (VBox audio setting) makes any difference. The last entries in the logs refer to PulseAudio.

Damn... That was easy!
Switching back to Alsa fixed the problem!

Thank you very much!

I found and fixed a bug in our package. The problem is that VBox will hang if the connection to a PulseAudio server was not successful. Did you actually start such a server? Check with

Code: Select all

/bin/ps aux | grep pulseaudio
