Post by lalotijuas »

Hi this is my first time using VBox, I just installed VBox on a windows 2008 server 64 bits.

I tried to install a guest OS also windows 2008 server 64 bits, but when trying to startup for installing the OS, I get the following error:

00:00:02.501 ********************* End of statistics **********************
00:00:02.506 VMSetError: D:\tinderbox\win-3.1\src\VBox\VMM\VM.cpp(323) VMR3Create

It is telling you that VT-x/AMD-v is not available. To run a 64-bit guest, your CPU, motherboard and BIOS must all support VT-x/AMD-v and it must be enable in the BIOS.

Also make sure that you are not running hyper-v on the host as this will cause the same error.

I Tried to install windows 2003 server, but got the same error.
I enabled the "virtualization" option in the BIOS and that solved the problem for the installation of both, windows 2008 server 64 bits, and windows 2003 server.
Thanks.
