Mehrere Snapshots zusammenführen/zusammenfassen (Bitte Hilfe

Post by Fancy »

Hallo Zusammen,

Bin jetzt ehrlich gesagt verwirrt.

Bin echt ratlos.

Euch vielen Dank im voraus !!
Frank

Sorry for this English reply.

To keep and merge all changes, use the 'Discard Snapshot' command ('Sicherungspunkt verwerfen').

Make sure you have free disk space on the drive that contains the snapshot files.
Use menu File>Virtual Media Manager... ('Manager für virtuelle Medien') and expand the base VDI.
Add (sum) up the 'Actual Size' ('Größe') column for the base VDI file and all of the child {hexUUID}.vdi files. I recommend that you have that much free space before trying to merge the snapshots.

Select the first, top, snapshot and use 'Sicherungspunkt verwerfen'.
This will merge the changes between that snapshot and the following snapshot into the base VDI file.
Do not be alarmed (suprised) when VirtualBox says: 'Verwerfen' (Discarding) your base VDI. It is not discarding, it is updating it and merging changes into it.
Select the first, top, snapshot and repeat until no more snapshots are left.

DO NOT ever use 'Discard Current Snapshot and State' ('Aktuellen Sicherungspunkt und Zustand verwerfen') it is broken.

If you have free disk space, backup your .VirtualBox folder before trying the above.

Hi Mark,

thanks a lot for your reply.

But i have an additional question:

Here my current constallation

Base-Implementation
SnapShot 1
SnapShot 2
SnapShot 3
SnapShot 4
SnapShot 5
SnapShot 6
Aktueller Zustand

Do you mean with "Select the first, top, snapshot and use 'Sicherungspunkt verwerfen'." the SnapShot 6, after that Snapshot 5 and so on, right ?

Is it possible to start with SnapSsssssot 1, after that with Snapshot 2 ... and so on ?

Thank a lot for youre time !!

Best Regards
Frank

Start with SnapShot 1, then SnapShot 2 and so on.

It actually does not matter which order you do them in, except that it will take less time overall if you start at the top.
