Full Resolution Automatically

It would be nice to be able to have vbox recognize widescreen resolutions automatically. It's a pain to have to figure out the vboxmanage commands every time I set up a new machine to get the resolutions to work right. Seems like I'm always stuck in 4:3 aspect ratios when there are hardly any screens on the market anymore that have that resolution. Am I missing something here, or is the vbox video driver just behind the times?

I don't know specifically how to fix your problem but I suspect that if you install Guest Additions on your guest, then full-screen the guest on a 16x9 monitor, that might show the guest OS that other-than-4x3 is possible. I might be wrong.

Older OS's didn't know about 16x9, so all they had was 4x3 and 5x4, they need drivers to show 16x9. GAs provide these drivers.
