Lost saved state when in error

Post by gvlx »

Hi,

I haven't found anyone raising this issue, so I'd like your opinion on this:
- I have a working VM
- I have stopped it, saving its state
- normally it can be resumed with no issues
- if I cannot resume the VM (for instance, too many programs opened, fails if lack of memory), the saved state is lost.

Shouldn't the saved state be kept even if the VM wasn't resumed successfully (in this case, closing some programs would release enough memory for the VM to resume without issues)? :?:

Should I raise a bug? :?:

Using Version 6.0.8 r130520 (Qt5.6.2) on W7 64b.

Thanks.

I'm not sure I understand what's going on here... How is the saved state lost? I'm not following...

It looks like he's saying that if you launch a VM from a saved state, and the launch fails due to (say) the host not having enough available RAM, then the VM is aborted but the saved state is still discarded. I don't use saved states so this is not checked by me.

Oh, I see...
Well, there's this thing called a "Snapshot" that can be used, but with caution, because they can pile up and become dangerous. And yes, I know your feelings about this... ;)
