is there a way to enable sound output, but block sound input to a specific vm?
the qemu version of this is hda-output (as opposed to hda-duplex) in this patch

Re: enable speaker but block mic?
Just disable the MIC input in the guest OS?
Re: enable speaker but block mic?
The guest vm should not be able to use the mic. for example, malware in the guest could spy on you.

Re: enable speaker but block mic?
In my case they would find it hard, with no mic attached to the host, and mic and line inputs disabled in the guest. And if they succeeded they'd hear what? Me typing and listening to music? And how did malware get into the guest? If that was possible at all then them listening to me would be the least of my concerns.
Which is not to say that the suggestion has no merit. So, moving this to Suggestions.
