VirtualBox has had support for USB3 ports for quite some time now, at least on Windows hosts. It's USB3 devices that have been waiting for a full solution (the workaround being to plug them into a USB2 port, or into a USB3 port via a USB2 hub. Or if the device is mass storage: define a shared folder and skip the USB question entirely).
Also, bear in mind that if the guest OS has no support for USB3 (e.g. XP with only native drivers), then I assume you still won't be able to use a USB3 device in a USB3 port, you'd still have to use that workaround.

Well it is now mid 2015 and still no USB 3.0 support. Furymaster may have been ahead of his time, but he knew where this was heading.sej7278 Volunteer
nothing wrong with supporting it eventually, but its hardly been around for years - months maybe but its hardly mainstream.

People, pay attention. USB 3 support is available in VB 5.0.
