Double Trouble with mouse for Linux Guest Ubuntu

Post by vicktech »

Host: Windows 7x64
Guest: Ubuntu 10.10 i386

Problem: Mouse gets mad in 3D games.

Details: Despite mouse integration works fine with Linux guest, when 3D game is launched mouse becomes mad.
You can not control the game (for ex. extreme tux racing).

Workaround 1: Disable mouse integration.
OR
Workaround 2: Connect 2nd mouse to VM as usb device, When in game put mouse away the guest VM, but over host VM window.

The bad thing with disabling mouse integration - in desktop mode mouse pointer disappears.
When compiz is enabled and rotate cube option is enabled too, mouse goes mad the same way as in 3D games.
If you disable mouse inegration - 3D cube rotates properly, BUT you do not see the mouse pointer - it disappears.

May be dev team could fix this annoing issue in nearest future.

Linux guests work under VirtualBox just great. :D

Mouse going nuts is a known problem when using 3D. If you don't want to have your mouse disappear or loose seamless integration, try the absolute pointer option. Though I have no idea how that works, as I know that some games don't use absolute locations but rather relative ones.
