Re: Please,Please,Please vdi-clone-tool inGUI-or-external!
does the ovf export already export all properties of the virtual machine? This would be great news and I could extend my application with another tabpane to clone machines instead of just disk images

Not all settings are exported. Just export a VM and compare the settings with the original.

I will find out what works, but supporting these commands is better worth than nothing...
At least some limitations are well documented in the manual:
Chapter 13, "Known Limitations" and the hint on page 59 about the flattened disk image when exporting to ovf.
I will call out loudly when the GUI is updated, you can find out yourself it the VB support is good enough for your usage scenarios

Re: Please,Please,Please vdi-clone-tool inGUI-or-external!
Findet VBOXMANAGE.EXE auf einem 64BIT WIN7 nicht automatisch - obwohl er auf dem Originalpfad installiert ist.
wenn ich auf abbrechen klicke kommt:
VBoxManage.exe not found!
Expected location is C:\Program Files\innotek Virtualbox\Vboxmanage.exe
application cannot be not started.
eine Idee ????

Re: Please,Please,Please vdi-clone-tool inGUI-or-external!

well, that wish is not very shiny and new
SCNR, as long as the wish stays a wish, I (and assumingly mpack, too) will continue our workarounds...

Re: Please,Please,Please vdi-clone-tool inGUI-or-external!
no nothing, my tool keeps using the native vboxmanage command, mpack's uses his own code. great work, by the way I have to say.
But as both ways have their friends, why not let them coexist nicely...

Re: Please,Please,Please vdi-clone-tool inGUI-or-external!
ok, the new version is available at by blog: http://www.die-rooter.de/ITworks/archiv ... ,-x64.html (description in german there, too; dort auch in Deutsch beschrieben.)
(direct download).
The default installation path and registry path of virtualbox seem to have changed from "xVM Virtualbox" to "Virtualbox" only. The new version supports this new paths, too and also stores a custom selected path if autodetection fails.
Could you please report back if it works for you, notebook?

Re: Please,Please,Please vdi-clone-tool inGUI-or-external!
Yesterday I upgraded from 2.x to 3.2.4. After that I installed CloneVDIGUI and cloned a fresh and new xp image. I choose to register the cloned image and after cloning a new vdi file appeared in HardDisks and in .VirtualBox.xml I found the MachineEntry uuid and the HardDisk uuid but when I start the Virtualbox console I do not see the newly created image.
What do I wrong? In april 2009 it worked the way I expected.

Hmm, I don't quite understand what exactly happens.
Do you mean, the newly created hard disk is contained in the configuration file of virtualbox, but not shown in the GUI, i.e. the virtual media manager? In that case, you might have found a bug in virtualbox, because the CloneVDIGUI application only calls "vboxmanage.exe clonehd" for you with the options you selected.
What do you mean with "virtualbox console"?
Or did you clone a vdi and now expect it to automatically be associated to a new virtual machine? For this, you had to clone the whole machine, not only a virtual hard disk. To my knowledge, there is currently no automated possibility in virtualbox to do this. You had to export your machine and import it again or manually "copy and fix" the virtual machine xml file...

Re: Please,Please,Please vdi-clone-tool inGUI-or-external!
With console I mean the GUI.
Yes, I expected that after cloning with the option 'register' it was ready for use but that's a very naive thought I realise now.
You say I have to clone the whole machine instead of the virtual disk, how do I realise that? Can I do that with CloneVDIGUI?
I find out that I'm missing the new folder in the folder Machines. I see the new vdi(without exclamation) in the Manager for virtual media but adding is not possible and not the right choice I think.
I do not understand what you mean with 'copy and fix', I don't see that choice anywhere.
I want a complete clone of a working virtual machine and I hope you can tell me the necessary steps in a few words.
Thanks.
