Hi all
After going to the User Control Panel, then Edit Profile,
then on the bottom there are 3 fields to fill:
- Primary OS
- VBox Version
- Guest OSes
I set Primary OS to my OS - Windows XP,
and then when I went to VBox Version, the options that I see are these:
- OSE Debian
- OSE Fedora
- OSE Mandriva
- OSE self-compiled
- OSE other
- PUEL
Are these indeed the correct options that should appear in this field, for someone who chooses a Windows Host as his Primary OS?
All those Debian, Fedora, Mandriva options don't look exactly like a Windows related versions of VirtualBox..
Should this be changed, by the website admin?
Or If not, then what should I choose there?
Thank you very much

Re: User Control Panel -> Edit Profile -> VBox Version
I don't see that these choices change when the main host OS type changes. The two dropdowns seem to be independently populated. I'm not sure if phpBB allows for the choices to change.
PUEL should be your choice for Windows Hosts.
PUEL should be your choice for Windows Hosts.

Hi scottgus1
Thank you very much for your reply.
I thought it's dynamically populated, and that I got the items that belong to Linux and not to Windows..
So everyone gets those, no matter what Host OS they choose in the first parameter.. OK.
BTW,
Searching Google for virtualbox puel, leads to pages saying that "PUEL" is related to the Extension Pack, and not to the main VirtualBox instllation..
Is that correct, or maybe I don't fully understand it?
Thank you very much for your reply.

Thank you, I'll set it to PUEL.scottgus1 wrote:PUEL should be your choice for Windows Hosts.

Re: User Control Panel -> Edit Profile -> VBox Version
Correct. PUEL is the license for the EP. See https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Licensing_FAQ for the legalese. The big kicker on the EP license is that you can't 'legally' use it to run a business (though Virtualbox can be used to run a business) without paying for it. However, paying for it is in the thousands, because they only sell a minimum 100-license pack or a "socket" whatever that is: Oracle Store.spaceman wrote:"PUEL" is related to the Extension Pack
