New MBP, macOS 10.15.4, Windows 10 Guest BSOD on Install (Stop Code 0xc000021a)
A few weeks ago I upgraded my computer to a MBP 2019 16" (system profiler info attached), and restored my old computer's files with time machine. My one Windows 10 instance, whose files are kept on an external drive, is now throwing a blue screen of death on boot, as well as any new windows 10 instances I create. I have two linux instances that were stored alongside the original windows 10 instance which still work.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling VirtualBox 6.1.4 using the tool provided in the download package, and reinstalled the expansion pack. I've also just downloaded the Windows 10 version 1909 x64 (English) iso directly from Microsoft.
After creating a new Windows 10 instance directly on my laptop SSD with 1 core, 2048MB RAM, a 100GB dynamically allocated VDI disk, and all other settings default, I booted the instance, selected the freshly downloaded install iso, and let it run. The instance window opened, the windows logo appeared for a few seconds, and then the BSOD happened (Stop code 0xc000021a). I have a screenshot but unfortunately can't embed it because this is a new forum account. The instance shut down after a few seconds.
I tried starting it again and got the exact same BSOD. The third attempt started the same, but the stop code was MEMORY MANAGEMENT. The instance then restarted instead of shutting down, but BSOD'd again with code 0xc000021a then shut down.

Shoot, just saw I posted this in MacOS Guests, not MacOS Hosts. Would a mod be willing to fix my blunder?

I've got the same problem.
Did you managed to find a fix ?
I can also provide some logs if needed...

Re: New MBP, macOS 10.15.4, Windows 10 Guest BSOD on Install (Stop Code 0xc000021a)
Thank for posting this. I also have this issue and many others. Same macbook pro, newly installed virtualbox 6.1.4, also tried 6.0.18. When trying to install Windows 10 guest, have many different types of BSOD, it seems random. I can't start the install/setup of Windows ISO, it will show BSOD on install.
The following screens I get at random (meaning each time i start the instance this BSOD will show, and it changes):
STOPCODE
1) SYSTEM PTE MISUSE
2) KERNEL SECURITY CHECK FAILURE
3) CRITICAL SERVICE FAILED
Recovery: your PC/Device needs to be repaired:
1) file: \windows\System32\drivers\bfadfcoei.sys Error code: 0x0000098
2) file: \windows\System32\drivers\qlfcoei.sys Error code: 0x0000098
I stopped starting the instance after a few tries, I guess more different type of codes will show up.
Help?

Hi,
I solved disabling sip.
I solved disabling sip.

Thanks. Your sentence was a bit cryptic though. It seems you meant the System Integrity Protection (https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204899) of macOS should be disabled. I found a way https://osxdaily.com/2015/10/05/disable ... -mac-os-x/. And indeed when I re-installed virtualbox under this disabled SIP environment, the install of Windows 10, MX Linux and Linux Mint went smooth like "normal".... strange.Emiliano Necciari wrote:Hi,

I will need to post a question to the users why this is. thanks.

You need to always disable sip ? or just for the installation ?
Can the virtualbox team find a fix about it ?

It installed it with SIP disabled, and started using it, and suddenly the virtualbox runs “normal” (meaning without any errors).XciD wrote:You need to always disable sip ? or just for the installation ?

Once I rebooted with SIP enabled, virtualbox is unuseable. The installed guest OS couldn’t start anymore, errors. And I couldn’t install new guests, because the setup couldn’t complete or couldn’t start.
So I would say virtualbox doesn’t operate if I enable SIP again
And no, I don’t know whether the virtualbox can find a fix. Also don’t know where the issue is, I am new here and got a bit burned when I try to explain my problem here. viewtopic.php?f=8&t=97681

I have not tried this with SIP disabled. I did try the following though:
1. Mac Book Pro 2019, OS v 10.15.4, virtualbox 6.0.20 r 137117 (QT5.6.3) no luck, constant random BSODs on initial boot, as reported by others.
2. Same device, VMware Fusion 11.5, no issues, success
3. iMAC 27" 2019, OS v 10.15.4, virtual box 6.0.14 r133895 (Qt 5.6.3) successful.
I am not able to migrate to virtualbox 6.1.6 at this time, since every time I shut a VM down, virtualbox crashes.

I am having the same issue on Macbook Pro 2017 10.14.6 (18G4032). I cant get any windows machine to boot, not even iso installers. I have tried literally everything (installing, uninstalling, checking my computer for viruses, etc), but no joy. I am not in a hurry to disable SIP just to get virtualbox running again. I can confirm that this is on Virtualbox 6.x and 5.x. This all seemed to have happened when i installed the Macos security update 2020-002. A theory I have is that somehow the kext that gets installed is being blocked, but that is just a hunch.
Anyone have any ideas?

Uninstalled Intel Power Gadget... and voila... virtualbox starts working.... What happened or what changed, I have no idea.. but intel power gadget seems to be the culprit..
I really hope they release an update to intel power gadget, as i use it for istat menus

Installed version 3.6.1, and it works... something wrong with the 3.7.0 version of intels power gadget...
