Copyprotected CD's don't work

Post by blanka »

I have a Taito legends game CD for Windows. But the CD drive is not recognised as authentic CD drive, so the copy-protection does not allow the game to start. What can be the problem here?

This is because most copy protection schemes employ deliberate flaws in the ISO formatting which do not copy using normal file I/O (otherwise they would be replicated by a disk copy). Have you tried enabling passthrough? This might work.

There are tools outside allowing to circumvent copyprotection-mechanisms. But because this tools are illegale in most countrys I will not post here any names or links.
If in doubt consult your ... neighbor-hacker.

Thanks tkwm, this save me having to delete them :)

Blanka, BTW have you read our Forum FAQ. You will see that most games do not work well under VBox anywat so even if you get the disk working, you might find this a wasted effort.
