[Resolved] Bridged networking fails on macOS Catalina

Post by Teus Benschop »

Hi,

Bridged networking on VirtualBox 6.0.14 on macOS Catalina fails.

I have installed Ubuntu server 18.04. With NAT networking on VirtualBox, the Ubuntu guest can reach the Internet. When switching to bridged networking on VirtualBox, the Ubuntu guest cannot reach the Internet.

With the previous version of macOS both NAT and bridged worked flawlessly. After I updated macOS to Catalina, bridged networking fails. By the way, both NAT and bridged networking fail on VMware Fusion.

What can I do to get this going?

Thank you,

Teus Benschop

Are you using Bridged-over-WiFi?
Did you try to re-install VirtualBox?

Thank you for the feedback.

Re-installing VirtualBox did resolve the issue.

(I had used the bridged networking over de USB-C LAN adapter, not over Wi-Fi.

Thanks again for the help, I'm happy :)

And when you installed VirtualBox, that option wasn't available, and VirtualBox couldn't install a networking bridged filter for a connection that was not available.
