'ambar',
Can I ask why did you re-open a ticket that was closed as [Fixed]? Have you looked and deemed that you had the exact same issue? And I don't mean a kernel panic, I mean the source of the kernel panic. Did you do an analysis of the kernel crash report? Of the backtrace?

There are a lot of kernel panics lately, just look around in the OSX Hosts area. They don't all have the same source...

The problem described in the post looked same.

On further checking, looks like a whole bunch of kernel panics are getting reported on macos.

How do I find out the cause of the kernel panic? Looks like the same basic addresses in the stack trace every time in my case.

Have you tried to set the systems to start in headless mode? That seems to have stopped the kernel panics for now.

I have the same issue, macOS kernel crash with an Oracle Linux 7 guests on starting the VM, sorry I did not keep my crash log, I'll post next time I need to start VB. @socratis, this ticket seems to convey the problem a lot of us are having, it answers my prayer and prior post.
Thanks again
Jean-François
BTW the kernel panic from VB had me reformat my backup drive twice thus far

The problem is that the majority doesn't have that kernel panic, including myself, a trusted user and the developers. That's the problem, it's not easily reproducible, and when a user like you is seeing it, I can't tell what is it due.

Given that there is a backtrace from the kernel panic, cant it be used to figure out which part of the code is causing the crash?

In case any help is needed with doing this, I can run a bunch of tests over the weekend.

The panics are fairly easy to reproduce on my system and as of now the workaround that seems to work for me is to start the vm in headless mode and then connect to them with remote desktop for windows vms, as connecting using the vbox gui makes the thing really slow.

BTW.. i did attach 4 or 5 kernel panics in the bug report page for #19018. They all seem to indicate the same stack trace, except that they are running on different vcpus on the host machine.

My system configuration is as follows:
MacBook Pro 16" w/ 8 core 2.3GHz i9, 32GB RAM, 5500m gfx cvard with 4gb vram and 1 tb of ssd.

I just started getting this behavior this morning. It's a new laptop, and these VMs were working, but I haven't logged a lot of time with them. I recently added a third screen, but disconnecting all USB devices and my dock still got the problem. Both resuming and starting fresh causes the OS to panic/reboot. However, thanks to Ambar's workaround, I can run. I'm on VirtualBox 6.1; once you start headless, the start button changes to a "Show" button which when clicked allows you to use the VM normally. In one case I was then able to suspend/resume it without the headless option but in another test it crashed. This is not hard to reproduce. It's solid.

Catalina 10.15.2
VirtualBox 6.1 running a ubuntu 16.04 and a centos 6 instance

AMD Radeon Pro 5500M 8 GB

Hi @socratis, reading the post it seems that the issue of kernel panic happens on new Mac with Intel Core i9, it could be a coincidence but maybe it is a place to look into.
Thanks

Sorry @pontimarco to hear that it did not resolve your issue. What is your computer OS and configuration? Does it happen everytime? How is the little preview windows looking, mine is completely garbled but it does not seem to affect normal operation bu it points to a graphic memory issue.
Thanks

Hi @Fredrik16, please try the latest release of VBox 6.1.4, it solved the problem for me.
Thanks
