[Solved] Please help me with manually deleted snapshot...

Post by Sy »

I'm in a bit of a panic atm, I have VDI which is 8.86 GB, the date / time stamp is 15:20 today which is when I last closed it, I thought I was being smart by creating a snapshot of the system, which I did. Then I did a little more work and decided to snapshot again, but I thought the change was slight so I'd get rid of the old snap shot as it was taking up GB's of space.

However, having done this I couldn't launch the VM, I got an error message when trying to launch, so I edited the file and now is worse, I still have the VDI, but when I try to launch the VM I get:

FATAL: Could not read from the boot medium! System halted.

Can anyone please help me as I'm now don't have any snapshots, just the VDI, .vbox and .vbox-prev

And you got rid of the snapshot manually, outside the knowledge of VirtualBox. Really bad idea...

Replace the "Ubuntu 14.04 ACS dev.vbox" file with the one I'm attaching. You will lose your snapshots (you've already deleted them, so no real harm done):

Code: Select all

<?xml version="1.0"?>
<!--
** DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE.
** If you make changes to this file while any VirtualBox related application
** is running, your changes will be overwritten later, without taking effect.
** Use VBoxManage or the VirtualBox Manager GUI to make changes.
-->
