Can't enable VT-x on Virtualbox on MAC

Hello,

I am in need of doing virtualisation on Ubuntu host, but on the prompt it says VT-x not enabled. Even though I can see that present in MAC:

Code: Select all

$ sysctl -a | grep -o VMX
VMX
This is what I see on virtualised host:
WARNING: neither Intel VT-x or AMD-V was found.
Even though on settings of virtual machine, I can see that enabled as:

Code: Select all

Acceleration: VT-x/AMD-V, Nested Paging, PAE/NX, KVM Paravirtualization
I am using default settings in Acceleration and have enabled Nested Paging. Really short of ideas here. Please help!

Thank you.

You have posted in the Mac OS X hosts part of the forum but are talking about an Ubuntu host. Can you clarify what you are trying to achieve? Please be more descriptive in terms of your host OS and the guest you are trying to install. For example, Ubuntu doesn't tell us much whereas Ubuntu 18.04 64bit is much more useful.

Please post a VM log file. With the VM fully shut down, right click and "Show Log" in the GUI, save "VBox.log" (no other file) to a zip, and attach the zip here.

Hello I am also interested in this issue. I need to run Android Studio and I can't. See my message viewtopic.php?f=8&t=92270

I posted logs there.

Thanks

@wyattbiker: you problem seems to be unrelated to the OPs. You talk about detecting VT-x in the guest OS, that is not what the OP asked about.
