Audio problem - linux mint

I am struggling to play any audio file or youtube video in my guest. Files do not even start or play with a crackle or are mute.
Switching between audio controllers - Intel HD, ICH AC97, Soundblaster - does not solve teh problem
I am using Linux Mint 19.1 on OS X Mojave 10.14.2
Audio in the Host works fine
I have attached the log file if someone woiuld have a look for me I would be most grateful
