[Solved] Problems with installation: SUSE Linux from external DVD

Hello,
I need to create a virtual machine with an old SUSE Linux 9.1
But on my MBPro I can only use an external DVD-drive. The drive is shown in "devices" but it does not boot from the first installation DVD.
virtualbox 5.2.22 on MacOS 10.9.5
Any ideas??

It's been many years since I booted a VM from an actual CD, and that was just to try it... Are you sure you don't want to download the SUSE Linux 9.1 Personal x86 installation CD in ISO format and boot from that? It's much, much faster...

What "devices" do you refer to?

You have to select the HostDVD. See picture below...
