Hi,
I'm trying to run kmobiletools from a VirtualBox run Kubuntu setup, but I'm having trouble dismounted my phone (Motorola PEBL U6) hooked up via usb so Kubuntu gets a chance to use it. Any suggestions?

What exactly is the problem, perhaps we can better understand what you are dealing with?
Guest Additions installed?
Have you created a filter for your Phone?
ie. Section 3.7.6 USB Supoort of the user manual
You can use VBoxManage list from Section 8.1 of the user manual
eg.
to list all your USB devices connect to your host and show whether they are Available, Busy or Unavailable (... there may be more, I have not seen *shrug*)
If the problem is that you can never get your USB-Phone device to appear Available, even with your USB filters intact, then there may be a daemon running that is capturing your USB-Phone that will have to be interrupted. Cross that bridge if need be...
